Compacting Scrap for Economical Handling
Loose scrap wastes furnace volume and transport space. Baling raises density so a charge is economical to move and to melt.
01
The problem
Low-density loose scrap fills a truck or a furnace bucket with mostly air. Transport and charging both become less economical the lower the density.
02
Engineering insight
Baling does not change the scrap—it changes its density. A denser, more regular bale moves more material per trip and per charge.
03
VMPL's approach
VMPL’s bailing press range includes double/triple action presses — the number of compression strokes acting on the bale — and continuous or box shears for shape cutting alongside baling.
